Walk into any electrical retailer right now and you will see two very different types of product both being sold as air conditioning. They are not the same thing. One actually cools the air. The other blows air over water and hopes for the best.
Refrigeration AC
Uses a compressor and refrigerant to actively remove heat from the air. The same technology in your fridge. Works regardless of humidity.

Not a replacement for a refrigeration unit in a UK heatwave. But at this price and this power draw, a good evaporative cooler at your desk or beside your bed makes a real difference. How Many Solar Panels Do You Need to Run a Portable AC Unit?
The rule is simple. Your solar panels need to generate at least as many watts as your AC unit consumes. If your panels produce more than the unit draws, the excess charges your battery. If they produce less, you are drawing the difference from the battery. The sun that is making you hot is also your power source. On a clear UK summer day, that works very much in your favour.
Best approach: charge a 2,000Wh+ battery overnight on Octopus Go, run the AC from that during the day. Top up with whatever solar you have.
